Baptist Women’s League

Last year the Canterbury-! Westland Baptist Women’s! League sent more than 5001 babies shirts to Indonesia and 12 complete layettes and a large amount of children's clothing to Hong Kong, according to the report presented at the annual meeting League members had also visited elderly persons in the Archer Old People’s Home. Action taken by the league during the year included protests against: nuclear bomb testing, the extension of facilities for the sale of liquor in New Zealand, and the Golden Kiwi lottery. Officers elected were: president. Mrs C. Collins: vicepresident, Mrs C. W Eagle; treasurer. Mrs N Pizzey; secretary, Mrs L. J. Oxley.
