N.A.C. May Increase Air Fares By 5 per cent.

(From Our Ou-n Reporter)

VnaJLXXGTON, June 8. A 5 per cent, increase in fares is expected to be announced shortly by the National Airways Corporation, although a spokesman for the corporation said tonight that no decision had yet been made. The consent of the Air Services Licensing Authority is not necessary for a fare increase of up to 5 per cent, in the corporation's present circumstances. In November, 1959. the corporation applied to the authority for a fare increase which came into operation early in 1960. The decision of the authority at that time gave a 5 per cent, tolerance to the corporat.on which has not yet been exercised. It is understood the corporation will show a substantial loss in its annual

accounts for the last financial year * due to a temporary slackening in passenger traffic and to the loss ai earnings by the fourth Viscoun; caused by the late completion of Momona airport. In addition the corporation will face increased airport dues from October 1.
