Marshall Begins Talks In Paris

' (N.Z. Press Association— Copyright) , PARIS, June 6. The New Zealand Deputy-Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) has had “full and frank discussions” with French Ministers on New Zealand’s position if Britain joins the Common Market.

He met the French Foreign Minister (Mr Couve de Murville) and the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Edgar Pisani). Tomorrow, he .will have talks with the Prime Minister (Mr Pompidou) and other officials. “We . recognised the problems on both sides and that there was no point in not facing up to them, so we got down to business,” said Mr Marshall today. Meanwhile, Australian-Brit-ish talks on the Common Market have reached a lull before a vital week-end conference between Mr Menzies and Mr Macmillan.

In the last eight days Mr Menzies has had three top conferences with Mr Macmillan, a week-end of talks with the Foreign Secretary (Lord Home), and daily talks with other senior ministers. Mr Macmillan has invited Mr Menzies to spend the week-end at the British Prime Minister’s country home in Birch Grove, Sussex.
