Royal News enhanced his prospects in tie Aidworth Handicap, the distance event for hacks on the last day of the Dunedin Jockey Club s winter meeting, when he recorded a most impressive trial at Wingatui this morning. There were several smart the best being recorded by The Wanderer, Warfare, Tombob. Prince Filou, Athenree One, and Grant.

The trials were held under ideal conditions. It has been fine and mild since Monday's meeting. The track was dead. The trestles were 30ft out on the course proper. Royal News (R. A. Low) was galloping more easily than Our Heritage (C. S. Jones) two lengths clear of Waaco (R. J. Skelton) at the end of five furlongs in Imin Bsec, the last three furlongs in 41 4-ssec. Gladaub (P. Cockroft) covered extra ground in running his trial In Imir. 9 3-ssec, the first two furlongs in 36sec. The Wanderer (B. J. Anderton) dashed over three furlongs in 39 3-ssec. He finished well. Highland Fair (E. J. Didham) and Coral Maid (M. Landrebe) were together in 41sec. Warfare (R. J. Pledger) ran three lengths clear of Irrepressible (J. R Dowling) in 53sec, the last three furlongs in 40 1Equal Times Prince Filou (E. J. Didham) sprinted half a mile in 53sec. the opening furlong in 12 4-5 sec. This time was equalled by Athenree One (R. W. Gould) and Boa wood (R, A. Low) and by Grant (B. E. Kennedy), Red Skies (W, Gye) and Underbid (R. J. Skelton). Red Skies, Grant and Underbid broke away at two-length intervals. Grant finished on to draw level with Red Skies, with Underbid two lengths back at the finish. They ran the last three furlongs in 40sec. Ops (J. R. Dowling) and Strategy (R. J. Pledger), after running the first furlong in 12 4-ssec, were on terms in 53 2-5 Lightning Giri (J. R. Dowling) shaded White Skies (R. J. Skelton) by a length in 53 4-5 sec. the opening furlong in 12 2-Shangri-La (J, D. Pankhurst) ran the first furlong la 11 44 sec and was not extended to complete the distance in 54 2-5 Fair Note (J. D.
