Allison, of Kerikeri. in an address to Kaikohe Rotarians yesterday. Mr Allison had more than 30 years' experience of tea planting in Assam before coming to New’ Zealand He said that Northland had sufficient rainfall for the growing of tea He said that It would take at lea«t five years to eotablish a producing tea plantation in Hie area, and that bushes became economical producers from about eight years onwards for anything up to 200 years But for tea production to become economical in New Zealand, a mechanical means of harvest would have to be introduced.
