Lunch Lectures At University
Dr. W. B. Sutch, Secretary of Industries and Commerce, will give the first lecture in the lunch-hour series of lectures on “The Welfare State” at the University of Canterbury at 1 p.m. on Friday. The lectures, which are open to all students, will be held on each Friday until the end of the term.
Other speakers will be Mr T. H. McCombs, headmaster of Cashmere High School and a former Minister of Education, who will speak on education, Mr R. H. Clark, a city businessman, on commerce, Mr lan Cross, a Wellington novelist, on literature. Professor B. P. Philpott, of Lincoln College, on the economy, the Rev. A. A. Brash, secretary of the National Council of Churches, on religion, and a physician, on medicine in the welfare State.
