HEATH’S REPORT
Unrest In Commons (N.Z .P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, June 1. ' Yesterday’s miniature debate on Mr Edward Heath’s latest progress report in the House of Commons on the Common Market negotiations provided hints for the way the full-dress, two-day affair may go next week, according to “The Times.” Mr Heath had for the first time “brought home something positive to talk about in the shape of the agreement to fade out gradually Commonwealth preference on industrial exports,” the newspaper said. But he found- himself the target of some ranging shots from the Common Market critics, to the cries of “Sell out” from the Labour back benches. The “Daily Express” said not a friendly voice was heard by Mr Heath when he emerged “from the dark diplomacy of Brussels into the House of Commons” yesterday. All he heard was a charge of surrender protests at abandoning Commonwealth preference and warnings from the Labour front bench that the House when it comes to vote will be gravely affected if the Commonwealth disapproves of the Government’s policy.
