SKI-TOW DROP

Success At Ruapehu (NJZ. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. May 24. Two Ohakune ski enthusiasts, Messrs R. Winchcombe and P. Winchcombe, were elated today after a series of delicately-judged air drops by a helicopter placed almost all of 6001 b of ski-tow equipment more than 5000 ft up the southern slopes of Mount Ruapehu. The completely successful air drops will mean that the southern slopes, considered by many to be the best ski grounds-on Ruapehu, should this winter for the first time ever have facilities for fullscale ski-ing. Tomorrow the last few loads are expected to be carried from the assembly point at the end of the Ohakune mountain road, about eight milfes and a quarter from Ohakune, to the delivery zones, one mile and a half further on.
