A tribute to the work of Mr W. S Mac Gibbon was paid by the director of the Canterbury Museum (Dr R S. Duff) at a meeting of the museum's trust board yesterday Mr Mac Gibbon was chairman of the board at the time of his death Mr G C. C. Sandston, who was elected chairman of the board at the meeting, said that the death of Mr MacGibbon would leave a gap in public life difficult to fill

Marker, and Mr P A Hickling will attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society in Wellington cm June SI as delegates of the Canterbury and West Coast branch. Mr A B. Mackenzie will attend as a vice-presi-dent and Mrs F. S. MillerMead as an observer. Mr A Holdsworth has been appointed regional superintendent of civil aviation in Auckland. Dr. G L. Rolleston has been appointed sub-dean of the Christchurch branch medical faculty of the University of Ctago tn succession to Dr. J. F. Landreth.
The death of Mr Lincoln Efford. formerly secretary of the Canterbury District Council of the Workers’ Educational Association, was recorded with regret by the Canterbury Museum Trust Board yesterday
Mrs Mairehau Hutton, after whom the Mairehau district and, in turn, the Mairehau High School were named, has become a coopted member of the school board of governors. Detective-Sergeant W. E. Hoilinsbead. of the Christchurch C. 1.8 . has been promoted to the rank of detective senior-sergeant He will remain in Christchurch.
Mr W J. Cartwright will be nominated by the Mairehau High School board as the representative of postprimary school boards on the Canterbury University Council
Army Car Missing.—A 1939 Ford V-8. which was taken from outside the Christchurch Workingmen's Club on Wednesday evening, is still missing. The registered number of the car is 684-588. and it has the Army crest on both front doors.
