Dull Week In Sydney
(NZ. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, May 23. The market showed little movement on the Sydney Stock Exchange in a dull trading week, according to the exchange review today. The share price index fell 0.71 points to 308.38 in the week to Tuesday, compared with the previous week’s 2.25 points gain. A number of second rank stocks have recorded good rises but a persistent easiness amongst leaders had dampened the market. B.H.P. has lost Is 6d to 62s over the last week while C.S.R. has dropped 15s to £56 and AC.I. Is 3d to 735. Rothmans, after a drop to 72s last week, has recovered strongly to 76s on news that the company has not been greatly affected by the latest cancer ‘‘scare.’’
