THEFT AND FRAUD
Guilty On 26 Counts
A Supreme Court jury yesterday found Oswald Oliver Wahriich, aged 42. an insurance agent (Mr R. G. Blunt), guilty on 10 charges of theft erf £4730. 10 of false accounting of the same amounts, five of obtaining money by false pretences, and one of theft of £lOOO by failure to account.
The charges relate to the affairs of Seafox Marine, Ltd., and the Fidelity Guarantee Corporation, Ltd., of which Wahriich was sole director.
Wahriich had pleaded not guilty to 29 charges. The jury found him not guilty on three charges of obtaining money by false pretences. The jury retired at 12.30 pm. and asked three questions of Mr Justice Macarthur at 3.30 pun. It was given the answers at 5.20 p.m. and retired again at 5.40 p.m.. bringing in its verdict at 9 p.m. Mr Justice Macarthur remanded Wahriich in custody for sentence on June 1.
