SEARCH FOR ESCAPER

Stolen Car Recovered (HZ. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 24. Police think the prison escaper, George Wilder, may be making his way back into Taranaki tonight. Road blocks were established and inquiries were made about the ownership ol a car seen parked on a desolate stretch of road on top of the Waitaanga saddle between Ohura and Ahititi.

Wilder, aged 24, escaped last Thursday from the New Plymouth prison. Detective - Sergeant G. Hogan said at New Plymouth tonight that a car reported stolen from Taupo on Wednesday evening was recovered at Taupo at 5 p.m. today. No reports of another stolen vehicle had been received, but police were anxious to trace the owner of a two-tone car which was seen tonight. The car had been seen by a motorist crossing the saddle.
