May, the former England test captain, scored 82 on his first appearance of the season for Surrey in its match against Glamorgan at the Oval yesterday. Surrey 339 for nine declared (J. Edrich 125, P. May 82). At Taunton.—Sussex 319 for five declared and 97 for five (Jim Parks 43) v. Somerset 224 (J. Lomax 54). At 252 and 150 for five v. Essex 85 (M Heath four for 35). At Cambridge. Cambridge University 307 for eight declared v. Warwickshire 3 for none. Rain. At Leicester.—Lancashire 193 v. Leicestershire 97 for two (W. Watson 42 not out). Rain. At Bristol.—Gloucestershire 63 and 3 for one v. Northamptonshire 215 for six declared. At Nottingham.—Nottinghamshire 155 v.
