CAPTURE OF TOWN
Indonesian Claims (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) DJAKARTA, May 22 Indonesian guerrillas have taken Teminabuan, about 65 miles south-east of the oil town of Sorong in West New Guinea, the West Irian Theatre Command has announced in Macassar. The announcement said about 100 Indonesians ejected Dutch marines from Teminabuan after fierce fighting. The town was in “gay festive mood” and the Indonesians had been welcomed enthusiastically by the local people, the Macassar report said. The Indonesian military governor of the town had ordered the people to go on with work as usual.
Dutch Neptune planes carried out a rocket attack on Indonesian paratroops concentrated about one mile from Teminabuan yesterday, it was announced in Hollandia. the British United Press said. The attack was carried out immediately after women and children had been evacuated from Teminabuan. Papuans went wild with joy as they watched the attack, the news agency said.
