Presbyterian Work With Children

There were 169 children assisted by the Presbyterian Social Service Association in Christchurch during the year ended March 31. 1961. according to information given by the association. Two children other than babies, were adopted: 25 were admitted to the Reception Home; assistance by the association enabled 13 to be returned to their own homes; 27 were placed in foster homes with the assistance of the association; 28 were admitted to the home or placed in private homes for short periods because of illness of parents: 15 were placed with relatives who have assumed full responsibility, and the association helped 41 mothers to care for their families.
