SHIRLEY SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS
Remodelling And Extra Rooms The Shirley Intermediate School is to have two additional classrooms added during the financial year, and other classroom accommodation is to be remodelled. Advice of these plans was received on Saturday by Mr H. J. Walker. M.P., from the Minister of Education (Mr Tennent). Mr Walker said that the school had for a number of years had small, cold, and damp prefabricated rooms too small for classes. “It is proposed that eight of the older classrooms be remodelled to provide six large rooms,” Mr Tennent said. “To make good the loss ’of two rooms it is intended to erect a block of two additional classroms. When this is completed all the permanent classrooms will be of good standard. ‘"Die Canterbury Education Board is fully aware of the need to do this work, and it is hoped that tenders wiH be called by the end of this
