St. Hilda’s Old Girls.—Officers elected at the annual meeting of the Christchurch branch of St. Hilda’s Old Girls’ Association were:— President, Mrs T. W. C. Tothill; vice-presidents, Mesdames M.Le C. Latter, H. C. Stevens, W. Winsbury White; secretary, Mrs D. Fletcher; treasurer, Mrs A. R. Elley; committee, Mesdames D. Macbean Stewart, D. V. Donaldson. D. McK. Dickson, J. Ferrier, S. A. Fogg, Misses S. Thompson. E. Taine.

Oversea* League.—Mrs Mabel Mason arranged the programme for a recent function held by the music circle of the Royal Overseas League. Vocal solos were given by Mrs Cara Cogswell; vocal duets by Mesdames G. Harrall and P. Hill and Messrs R. Allison and J. Mason; piano duets by Mesdames E. Storie and Mason; and humorous sketches by Mrs L. Bielby. Accompanists were Mesdames Storie and Mason, Mrs L. R. de Roo presided and the artists were thanked by Mrs N. Mcßae. Commonwealth Society.— The leading lady of "My Fair Lady,” Mrs Patricia Moore, spoke on her experiences as an actress at a recent meeting of the women’s group of the Royal Commonwealth Society. She was thanked by Mrs L. Spooner, and presented with a bouquet made in the society’s colours. A sales table held at the meeting realised £1 18s 6d. Mrs H E. Goggin presided. Canterbury Women’* Club. —A musical afternoon sponsored by the literary circle of the Canterbury Women’s Club was held in the club’s lounge. Items in the programme, arranged by Mr A. S. Bell, included songs by Mesdames H. Bennington and M. Hanafin, and Messrs R. Gray. W. Williams C. Russell and D. Smith. Vocal duets were given by Miss S. Reid and her father, Mr V. Reid. The accompanist was Mrs W. E. Olds. The director of the literary circle (Mrs H. P. Wise) presided. English Speaking Union.— More than 40 women members of the English Speaking Union were present at a social afternoon organised by the group’s women's committee at Elizabeth House. A. display of coloured slides of New Zealand flowers, plants, and scenes was presented by Mr and Mrs P. Wright to the accompaniment of a recorded commentary with music. Afterwards Mrs Wright was presented with a cyclamen plant by Miss L. Webster. League ef Mother*.—The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Shirley branch of the League of Mothers: President, Mrs I. Cunliflfe: vice-presi-dents. Mesdames M Pruden. S Hinchliff. A. Helm: secretary. Mrs M Hayward; treasurer, Mrs D. Doak.
