The New Zealand galloper Baron Courtauld struck form at Pakenham yesterday and landed a betting plunge in winning the Welter Handicap. The jockey, M. Moore, had to use sll his strength to get Baron Courtauld <6 1) to the post a neck in front of Skadar <5 to 2 favourite) with Glenfern Lad <4 to 1 » third.
Tile win was unpopular with bookmakers as Baron Courtauld was backed in from isolated quotes of 14 to 1 to start at 6 to 1.
