New Methodist Order

A new order will be created within the Methodist Church of New Zeeland if a scheme approved by the New Zealand Methodist Social Service Association is ratified by the Methodist conference which meets In Christchurch in November. Called the Christian Guild of Service, it is designed to provide lay workers for Methodist institutions. Normally the members would be expected to be of good standing in the Methodist Church of New Zealand. There would be a period of probation for associate members and full membership after an agreed period of service Some would serve full time, and some part time.
