REFRESHER COURSE

Poultry-Farmers Meet Between 100 and 150 poultry-farmers attended the ninth South Island poultryfarmers' refresher course, at the Lincoln Community Centre. Welcoming members of the course, the principal of Lincoln College (Dr. M. M. Burns) said that because of illness among the staff the college had not been able to proceed with a programme of research on poultry nutrition. The initiation of the experiments had been deferred until the middle of the year and after this years hatchings. The guest speaker at the opening of the course was Mr H. J. Walker. M.P., who is a member of the council of Lincoln College, and speakers during the day included Mr R. B. Cumming, lecturer in poultry science in the faculty of rural science at the University of New England at Armidale. New South Wales. Mr Cumming discussed chronic respiratory disease in poultry and re* strictive feeding of pullets before laying.
