Gelignite Theft
(HZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 9. Thieves last night broke open the magazine on the St. Helens Hospital site in Auckland and stole half a case of gelignite and 40C detonators. Detective Superintendent J, W. Hill today warned firms to make sure their premises were secured and that all money was banked. ‘"Biis theft means that the gelignite may be in the hands of safeblowers and that means trouble,” he said,
Control Of Pigs.— Hundreds of wild pigs roaming the 17,000 acres of a Crown block of bush and scrub land in the Okaihau east—Puketi area will be destroyed by poisoning. Their depredations in farm land surrounding the block have reached serious proportions and the fanners concerned have been compelled to form a pig control committee. —(P.A.)
