Boxing S.I. Trials For Games

(HJZ. Press Association) UMARU, May 9.

The Timaru Boxing Association will hold the South Island trials for the New Zealand Empire Games boxing team on June 30, the president of the association (Mr S. C. Ashton) announced today. No date has been announced for the North Island trials for the Games which will be held in Perth in November. Mr Ashton said the New Zealand Boxing Council had intimated that this year’s teem would probably be the largest contingent yet sent overseas. Efforts were made made to get top North Island nominees for matchings with the South Island contingent, said Mr-Ash-ton. In some divisions, the South Island would be able to supply pairing*.
