The entry of Mrs Eileen Beck for the British open golf championship at Troon in July has been refused by the championship committee of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. The secretary of the committee (Brigadier Eric Brickman) said today: "The open golf championship has always been regarded as an event open only to men goffers and the question of the inclusion of women competitors had never been contemplated.” RAWHITI CLUB.—Open DaySenior championship: I. Still Unconscious.— Douglas Charles Hill, of 11 Bourne crescent, who was seriously injured when a cycle he was riding and a car collided in Papanui road on Monday afternoon, was still unconscious last evening. His condition was reported as unchanged.
