Football Riot In Turkey
<N.Z.PA.-Reuter —Copyright) ANKARA, May 9 Five soldiers and 18 civilians were injured and five persons arrested in demonstrations st Msrdin, south-east Turkey, on Sunday and Monday, the Turkish Ministry of the Interior said last night.
The demonstrations were sparked by an incident at a Sunday football match, but the Interior Minister (Mr Ahmet Topaloglu) Mid it was further exploited by other people "for their own reasons” Some reports Mid 3V persons had been detained. The trouble began when spectators protesting against the result of the match began fighting, and some attacked police trying to break it up.
