Details of maintenance and running expenses of Windsor Castle have been given in the House of Commons by the Minister of Works (Lord John Hope) In 1962-63. £108.403 would be required, he said. The Minister made a written reply to Mr WiHiam Hamilton (Labour) who recently tabled a large number of question about expenditure relating to the Royal Family. He said £14.610 was for day-to-day maintenance and operation of plant, and £41,440 tor items of <>ecial maintenance. This inchided £17.900 for repairs to stonework and £3.605 for repairs to roofs and chimneys. The cost of painting was £8863 Of £53.000 tor maintenance of furniture and equipment at the Royal palaces in 1961-62. £48.850 sterling was required as contribution towards wages of industrial staffs.
The expenditure of £3OO on supply of furniture and equipment to Royal palaces included £5OO for the supply of Royal Standards.
