COMMUNIST AID
Credits For Algeria (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. April 20. Preliminary negotiations had been taking place in Prague since the beginning of the month for the provision of economic and military aid from the Communist countries to Algeria, the “Daily Telegraph” reported. An Algerian delegation had been in Prague since April 5 as guests of the Czechoslovak Government, which was reported to have offered to extend credits of more than £6 million in cash and £2O million in goods. The military aid offered was said to consist of complete equipment for two divisions of 12.000 men each, including rifles, light and heavy machine guns, mortars and 50 25-ton tanks.
The Czechs would also supply heavier tanks and planes, but of Russian manufacture, the “Daily Telegraph” said.
