Rugby INVITATION TO PLAYERS

Auckland Given Approval (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 16 Auckland is the first Rugby union to seek New Zealand Rugby Union approval to Invite players from outside unions for a special match. The annual meeting of the New Zealand union last week decided approval must come from the national body before such invitations were isaued. Today’s meeting of the union executive approved that Auckland seek permission from other unions for the following players to participate in a match between a Maori team and an Auckland fifteen on May 13:—M. Walters (North Auckland). R. Tamati (Counties). M. Doherty. M. Manlapoto. H. Parkinson (Bay of Plenty). W. Wordley. ft. Palako (King Country). R. Raurett. J. Porima (Waikato). The tours committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union will discuss the advisability of a junior New Zealand team tour in New Zealand in 1063. a Maori tour in New Zealand in 1963. and matches by the IMS--64 All Blacks tn Canada and America on the way home from the United Kingdom and France.

Sydney Trip Cancelled

(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL. April 16 The Old Boys' Rugby Footbsl! Club has decided to "cancel its 10-day visit to Australia. Winners of the senior competition in Invercargill last year, the club was to have played ' three games In Sydney. Club officials said this morning that lack of support was the reason for the cancellation. Withdrawals because of injuries and personal reasons meant that only 15 players were abel to go. An attempt will be made to organise a similar trip next year.
