Dr. N. A. Worker, of the Ruakura Animal Research Station, will leave for Vienna on Tuesday before going to Buenos Aires to establish a radioactive isotope laboratory for the International Atomic Energy Commission He will return to New Zealand in about six months, when he will set up a similar laboratory at Ruakura.— (P.A.) Mr R. M. D. Johnson, of Mount Torlesse, was reelected chairman of the Tussock Grassland and Mountain Lands Institute at the annual meeting last evening. Mr D. McLeod of Grasmere, was elected vice-chairman. Mr W. S. Mac Gibbon was re-elected chairman of the Canterbury Museum Trust Board yesterday. Messrs P. N. O'Flaherty and E. V. Croft have been appointed as assistant chief accountants, Railways Department, in succession to Messrs J. H. Wilson and G M. Howatson, who will retire soon after 40 years’ service.—(P.A.)
Mr K. R. Congreve, of Wellington, has been appointed a member of the Earthquake and War Damage Commission. He replaces Mr H. Duncan. who has resigned.— (P.A.)
Mr L. R. Allen, of the staff of Glendowie College, Auckland, will leave on Tuesday to take up a post with the Malayan Government" as one of 50 teachers supplied by Commonwealth countries. He is ‘the only New Zealand teacher to take part in the scheme. He will teach for three years at the Victoria Institution. Kuala Lumpur (P.A.)
