LONDON STOCKS

Fillip From Budget (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, April 12 Stock markets have been given a fillip by the Budget this week. There was no boom but a very firm tone developed in most sections Chief interest was taken in shares that stand to benefit immediately from the Chancellor's concessions, such as motor and kindred issues, domestic appliance shares and store, radio and television issues.

There was also an increased demand for tobacco and property shares - which it had been previously thought, might have been subject to imports. On the other hand, sweet, ice cream and soft drink issues were affected by the new tax.

There was a sharp burst of interest in bank shares, particularly those of the "big five.” Insurances were marked up and breweries attracted attention Gilts became easier, golds quiet, and coppers lower.
