W.E.A. DRAMATIC SOCIETY

One-Act Plays Presented Comedy predominated in the four one-act plavs presented by the "W.E.A Dramatic- Society last evening at the W.E.A. Centre. The entertainment offered gave an opportunity for many members of the society to a j? ear on s * a S e - It may be added that they played to a full house.

In “The Cameo Brooch” Grace Williams bad a double role. In the first scene she was Caroline Hope, in the second. Elizabeth: and the two characters were firmly established. Ken Brownlee apneared in this play. Tine comedy of "“Oracle Oak.’ which followed, was indeed spontaneous, and the audience probab’v enioved it most of all. Sylvia Lowe held the centre of the stage, and was ably supported by Dawn Short and Charlotte Novis.

“The Stronger” is an interesting character study, and the contrast here was carefully worked out bv Marv Crosbie and Joyce Clifton The final play. “The Devil in the Lotterv.” did not have the same crispness, and the large caH was rather unequal. The principal parts were taken by Basil Hale Patrick Sweeney. Cathy Oumbie. Lois England. Albert Feear. and Violet Wright. The plays were produced bv Harold Pointer, and Carl Berger was the stage dwector —-C.EJS.
