Point Of Law
A Sydenham second grade B cricketer, I. McMillan. has cause to remember the last Saturday of the season. He was batting at Sydenham Park when a player on an adjoining pitch made a violent hook, sending the ball straight at McMillan. It struck him a sharp blow on the back of the legs, just a split second before his own immediate opponent’s delivery shattered his stumps. This raised a nice point I of law. The umpire, quite reasonably, declared that I the bail which had i bowled McMillan was nil, void, and not to be I counted.
