RACING Tocsin The Sprint Pick For Greymouth

Safe Harbour, from Riccarton, and Tocsin, from Oamaru, will be a popular combination for the TA.B. double on the first day of the Greymouth Jockey Club’s meeting at Omoto today. Safe Harbour is in the first leg, the Greymouth Jockey Club Handicap, and Tocsin is a light-weight in the James Stewart Memorial.

Both were placed in open sprints at the Oamaru autumn meeting, and Safe Harbouir switched to a middle distance to run an encouraging fourth at Ashburton last Saturday. The strongest favourite on the programme will probably be Lady York, a Riccarton filly engaged in the Novice Stakes. She was fourth in the New Zealand Oaks, her last race before a summer spell, and it will be surprising if she does not manage to clear novice ranks on her Omoto campaign. Mystic has been scratched from both the Barry town and Publicans’ Hack Handicaps. Two Moons has been scratched for the Stillwater Trot, but it is believed he will start on the second day of the meeting. Greymouth had light showers yesterday, but the ground remained firm after a long spell of fine weather. Fields, with form in the double races, are:— FIRST LEG OF ON-COURSE DOUBLE 12.30 p.m. BARRYTOWN HACK HANDICAP, Of £150; seven furlongs.
