A declaration affirming tf e right of the people of Dutch New Guinea to self-determin. ation, issued by a committee of 240 Dutchmen in tie Netherlands in October last year, is at the moment being circulated among Dutch per sons in Christchurch The declaration is issued “on bmalf of the Committee of Self-determination New Guinea” by W. J. Ix-yds, of Naarden. who is styled as acti ng-secreta ry.
The declaration says that its signatories "fully back the expressed desire that the people of New Guinea must be able to decide, in compe’--freedom, when and in what way it wishes to effectuate its right of sekt-de'ermina-tion.”
A note to the declaration says b-.at it has been signer; by “members of all strata of society,” among whom were 40 university professors. 12 members of Parliament, a number of clengyrrn n, and others, while “notifications of adhesion" were coming in every day.
