AN EVENING SCENE IN THE BOTANIC GARDENS.—This clump of maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) is a feature of merit, displaying the fine trunks and beautiful bark possessed by the species. The clear space between the trunks, and the compact, low-growing plants which surround the clumps produce an almost cathedral-like effect.
