HANDICAP SYSTEM

U.S. Method Urged

i N.2. Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 5. New Zealand golfers may soon be playing under a new handicapping system. After protracted discussion at today’s annual meeting of the New Zealand Golf Association, it was decided to invite the Auckland association to submit a draft for a new procedure. Auckland delegates earlier had moved: “That the U.S.G.A. handicapping system be adopted in New Zealand, and that the present New Zealand standard scratch score system be adhered to and used in conjunction with the U.S.G.A. handicapping system.” The New Zealand system, unlike that in use in the United States, did not give a true indication of a player’s ability, said Mr V. N. Morrin (Auckland).
