GIFT OF PRINTING PRESS.—Mr J. Coley, art master of the Papanui High School, assists a truck driver to move into its room, a very early printing press which was used to print the “Ashburton Echo” in 1878. The press was presented to the school by Mr W. B. W. Bell, managing director of the “Ashburton Guardian.” The old press is believed to have been superseded when the “Ashburton Guardian” began publication on October 12, 1880. The school intends to publish a monthly paper.
