LONDON STOCKS

Busier Week

(Special Crspdt. A’.Z.P.A.) LONDON. April 5

Although pre-budget inhibitions seemed to keep a damper on the London Stock Exchange during the early stages of the final account before Budget Day—next Monday—there was a marked improvement as the account progressed. By the middle of this week brokers were claiming to have done their best business for months.

Good gold figures and the latest cheerful Ministerial comments on British export prospects brought buyers back to the markets and industrial shares showed gains on a broad front-.

Brokers suggest people are now taking the view it is only uncertainty which has been holding back the markets in recent weeks, and that if the Budget next week is not too unfavourable the market could well move upwards.
