(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, April 5.
Safebreakers who used explosives would get long prison terms, Mr Justice Boys warned in the Supreme Court at Auckland today. The Judge said that four years was. in his view, the minimum for an active safeblower using explosives. During the current Supreme Court sessions a number of offences associated with safeblowing came before his Honour for sentence.
Frank Johnson, aged 28, an Australian workman, was gaoled for four years. Johnson, with Dover Spencer Samuels, aged 23. a restaurant manager, had been found guilty of breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime. Samuels, described as a “look-out,” was gaoled for three years, and Patrick Piri Nathan, aged 22, a workman, who had pleaded guilty when he came up for trial with the other two on the same charge, was gaoled for two years and a half.
