R. Young To Drive Patchwork In U.S.

The Addington trainerdriver, R. Young, has agreed to travel to New York in June to drive Patchwork in the international pacing series to be run then at Yonkers Raceway. Young, who has driven Patchwork in many of her wins, will probably travel to New York by air after the Ashburton Trotting Club’s winter meeting on June 2 and 4. He expects to be away about one month. Young attended some of the international pacing series at Yonkers Raceway two years ago. but he did not drive there.

Patchwork, which will be accompanied by her owner’s son. M. A. Watson, will leave Christchurch on April 24 for Auckland and will leave on Aprri 27 for Sydney. She w’ili be accompanied to Sydney by Lookaway, AM ora. and Au Fait, which are to be campaigned in the United States. It is expected that Lookaway’s Templeton trainer, L. C. Roper, will also travel with the horses.

The New Zealand horses will be joined by the Sydney pacer. Janies Scott, and will be flown to New York early in May, They will have about six weeks in New York before the international pacing series starts.
