Dinner Guests See TV
Guests who attended the opening of the clothing factory of Lane, Walker, Rudkin. Ltd., in Christchurch yesterday and later dined at the Win'er Gardens as guests of the firm were able to wateh. during dinner, the television report of the afternoon's ceremony.
Most of the guests were the firm's retailing clients and one had provided a 23-mch screen television set which was turned on for the broadcast report. Having thus made their own entertainment, they watched two Hungarian balancers and heard a singing quartet.
Among the brief speakers, the company's managing director (Mr A. H. Lee) welcomed guests, and said of the current business situation: “I am not at all pessimistic. There might be a slight tightening in trading conditions but if we give service and satisfaction to the allimportant customer there is good business ahead” The import licensing schedule would be basically adequate to meet the requirements of full employment, he said.
