“DAMAGE TO ECONOMY”
Dismissal Move Renewed ( N.2. Press Association) WELLINGTON. March 27. Suggesting that the Arbitration Court had misconstrued his ipplication for the dismissal of the application for a general order increasing wages by 10.4 per cento Mr A. P. O’Shea, advocate for the Sheepowners' Industrial Union of Employers, today again submitted that on the Federation of Labour's own admissions. the economic stability of New Zealand could not be promoted by granting the application, and that it should therefore not be granted “I did not ask the Court to decide ’whether the economic stability of New Zealand will be promoted' by the granting of the application." said Mr O'Shea.
The FO.L had admitted there was a “serious state of affairs" in the economy Therefore, any addition to the quantity of money would accentuate the danger of inflation, and -ould not “promote the economic stability of New Zealand " Unless the Court was satisfied hat ’he economic stability of New Zealand would be preserved by granting the Dedication for a wage increase it could not consider such ancillary matters as cost of living and productivity, said Mr O’Shea
