Fifty-One New Gtizens Welcomed By Mayor
Elderly Chinese who have lived in New Zealand for many years joined young West Europeans last evening to swear allegiance to the British Crown and New Zealand when 51 persons were naturalised at a civic naturalisation ceremony in the City Council chambers. The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) reminded the new citizens of their obligations as well as their privileges when he welcomed them and administered the oath. Most of those naturalised were Dutch. The homelands of others were Bulgaria. Greece, Hungary. India, the Ukraine, Czechoslovakia. Jugoslavia, Latvia, Poland, and China. Those naturalised were:—
