Chinese Criticism Of Khrushchev

NEW YORK, March 26.
The Chinese regime has launched a word-of-mouth campaign of criticism of the Soviet Prime Minister (Mr Khrushchev) and other Soviet leaders, according to the “New York Times.”
A dispatch from Hong Kong, published today, said that refugees reaching the British colony had reported the campaign. They told of having attending meetings in widely separated Chinese provinces at which the Soviet leadership had come under direct fire from Communist officials. By contrast, the Chinese press had kept its criticism of Soviet policies veiled as attacks of Jugoslav “revisionism” and had not yet singled out the Soviet Prime Minister or any other leader as a target, the newspaper Mid. The dispatch added: "Officials charged with spreading the anti-Soviet campaign across China say they are merely giving their personal views, but they leave no doubt in their listeners’ minds that they are repeating the Chinese Communist Party line, the refugees say. "Premier Khrushchev is usually denounced on four counts, according to the reports.

The campaign had provided officials with a convenient scapegoat that could be blamed for China’s present economic problems.
