Officer in Antarctica and is responsible for the implementation of the N.Z. Research Programme. Leadership qualities and organising ability are essential, together* with a full appreciation of snow and Ice techniques. He will have overall control of N.Z. field and base activities. The DEPUTY LEADER for the summer of 1962-63 would primarily assist the Leader in the administration of base activity. He must be qualified to take over full leadership duties should the need arise. One appointee only is required to winter over. A salary of up to £1730 will be paid to the Leader and up to £1530 for the Deputy Leader.
