SAVED FROM DROWNING

Pelorus Sound Rescue (N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, March 21. The timely arrival of a launch at a spot well down Pelorus Sound yesterday afternoon saved a man from drowning He is Mt Charles O’Brien, aged 54, of Tahuna. Nelson. Mr O'Brien was found floating, on the verge of exhaustion. with a dinghy drifting some distance away Among the passengers on the launch, the Ratanul. driven by Mr “Sonny" Johnson, of Havelock, were two nurses—one a retired matron arrd the other a sister—who were able to apply artificial respiration until Mr O’Brien recovered, five or 10 minutes after being fished from the water.

Dr V. D M. Jacobsen, of Havelock, met the launch in the sound after travelling in his own craft from Havelock, and after examining Mr O'Brien arranged for him to be admitted to the Walrau Hospital. Blenheim His condition was reported this morning to be fair.
