Messrs B. D. Blakely and J. R. Matheson, of Christchurch, and Mr J. Garlick, of Greymouth, have been admitted to the New Zealand Institute of Cost Accountants with the status of associates. Mr D F. Sell, musical director of Mana College, Wellington, who is studying in London on a Government bursary, has received a master of music degree from Durham University. Mr Sell was educated at Cathedral Grammar School, Christchurch Boys’ High School, and the University of Canterbury where he obtained a bachelor of music degree. Senior-Sergeant G. Tait, of Wellington, has been transferred to Christchurch with the rank of inspector. He will take up his new duties soon. Crs. H. P. Smith and A. Schumacher were appointed by the City Council last evening as directors of the Christchurch Milk Company, Ltd. Detective J. L. Marshall, of Christchurch, has been transferred to Oamaru to take charge of the Oamaru Criminal Investigation Branch.
Cr. W. E. Olds was nominated by the City Council last evening as its representative on the Canterbury District Licensing Committee to be appointed under the Licensing Amendment Act, 1961. The appointment of Mr T. J. Kirk-Burnnand as music master at the Aranui High School has been confirmed.
