C.W.I.’s Hold Annual Meetings
Country Women's Institutes, which held their annual meeting recently are Lyttelton. Hillsborough - Heathcote, North Beach. Spencerville, and Te Pirita. Details are:— Lyttelton Mrs F. Barrett presided and welcomed Mrs L. M. Kellaway as voluntary organiser and Mrs E. Green, of the federation executive. Officers elected were: president, Mrs F. Barrett: committee, Mesdames J. Childs. A. Donnelly, C. Gilmore, H. L. Herdman, M. Illingworth. K. Loader, W. Marshall, L. MacDonald, E. O. Donovan. S. Porteous. R. Stenson. Mrs Kellaway spoke on institute procedure. Hillsborough-Heathcote Mrs D. Smith presided and welcomed Mrs W. Anderson, voluntary organiser, and the federation president (Mrs L. M. Kellaway). Officers elected were: President. Mrs D. Smith; vice-presidents, Mesdames I. Taylor and A. Frandsen: secretary, Mrs G. Eastwick; minute secretary. Mrs Z. Haines; treasurer. Miss G. Davidson: committee, Mesdames I. Boyle, J. Laing,, D Mahoney, M. Morris. A Oetgen. G. Rae. M. Reed: pianist, Mrs S. Cutting: judges. Mesdames L. Davidson. A. Briggs. R. Aspinall. The theme of the meeting was "This Institute,” and the motto “Let Us Take Time for all Tilings Good.” North Beach
Mrs P. McKechme welcomed Mrs C. D. Newton, as voluntary organiser, and Mrs W. A. Hodgkinson, of the federation executive, and presented them with flowers. Flowers were also presented
to Mesdames P. Irvine, J. Roscoe, B. Windsor, P. Henderson, and R. Woods for their work during the year. A talk on institute procedure was given by Mrs Newton. Mrs McKechnie was reelected president. Spencerville
The retiring president (Mrs E. M. Edwards) welcomed Mrs L. M. Kellaway, as voluntary organiser, and Mrs St Page of the federation executive. Officers elected were: president. Mrs O. Gwatkin; vice-president, Mrs H. Robinson; secretary, Mrs V. Teague: treasurer, Mrs F. Wright; committee, Mesdames P. Duffield. S. McFadden. B. Osbahr, J. Scott. D Jackson, and R. Tanner. Used stamps were collected for the leper fund. Tribute was paid Mrs Edwards for her work. Te Pirita Mrs F. Westaway was present as voluntary organiser. The motto was “happiness as a habit-cultivator.” Gifts of produce were brought for the Rakaia Hospital. Officers elected were: President, Mrs W. Colliar: vice-president. Miss K. Inch; secretary, Mrs J. J Brownlee: treasurer, Mrs A. F. Findlay.
