Take-over Of Rainster
Bing. Harris and Cempu*y, LttL Wellington, has aoqnlred the bntow •T Barria, Langton, LtdRainater Sportswear, Ltd., and Jtoiiwter Rainwear, Ltd. The bnainem will be condncted by Rainster (New Zealand), Ltd., a wholly-ewned rabaidiary of Bing, Barrie. Announcing this yesterday the chairman of directors of Bing, Harris (Sir Jack Harris), said the value of the assets taken over exceeded £250 000. “These assets include substantial manufacturing facilities in Auckland and Tauranga, where a staff of about 150 is employed." Present Management The manufacturing side of the business will continue under the present management. The wholesale distribution will be channelled through the Bing, Harris organisation.
Sir Jack Harris said his company had in recent years extended its policy of investment in the manufacture of all articles of clothing, eiid already owned or controlled 10 factories each of which produced different classes of clothing. “The acquisition of this business widens the field of products handled by the parent company and provides a further insurance against the adverse effect of its activities of further restrictions on imports announced in the 1962-63 import licensing schedule,” he added.
