HARBOURMASTERS’ AWARD
Salary Increase Incorporated
Increases of £lOO a year or more in salary for harbourmasters, deputy - harbourmasters and pilots have been made by Mr Justice Tyndall in a new award issued by the Arbitration Court. The award is for New Zealand (except Marlborough) harbour boards’ harbourmasters and pilots, but does not apply to harbourmasters at Auckland. Wellington. Lyttelton. Napier, Oamaru, Otago, Southland. Taranaki. Tauranga, Whangarei or to the harbour superintendent or the deputy harbour superintendent at Whangarei. At Auckland and Wellington, the deputy harbourmaster will receive £2OOO a year, while at Lyttelton and Otago the deputy harbourmasters will receive £lB5O a year. The harbourmaster at Timaru will receive £lB5O, at Nelson £1750, the new harbourmaster at Motueka £llOO and a pilot appointed to Whangarei £l7OO. Under the new award, an officer who has remained on call or has been required to attend to shipping under instructions will have one day added to his annual leave for each statutory holiday worked.
