Visit To City For
“My Fair Lady”
The London representative of African Consolidated Theatres, Mr A. Robertson, arrived in Christchurch during the week-end to see the J. C. Williamson production of the musical “My Fa r Lady.” with a view to its possible presentation in South Africa. Mr Robertson lives in London and travels around Europe to theatres and nightclubs looking for suitable productions or musicians for tours in South Africa. This is his first visit to New Zealand. He intends to remain for about 10 days and then go to Australia. African Consolidated Theatres controlled 120 theatres and cinemas throughout the republic, Mr Robertson said. It was through this company that Sir Edmund Hillary and Mr G. Lowe toured and lectured in South Africa. Mr Robertson has been with African Consolidated Theatres for seven years. He was previously In the Grade Organisation, the largest theatrical agency in Europe.
